GetWushu was founded in 2004 by James Yang and Brandon Sugiyama. We are a fully licensed business and reseller and strive to bring the highest quality goods and services to our customers.

All products provided by GetWushu are selected by people who know wushu. Our founders are avid wushu practicioners with over 20 years of combined experience in contemporary external and internal wushu. Just like you, we are absolute wushu fanatics and know this sport and art inside and out.

James Yang, co-president

James has been practicing wushu in the San Francisco bay area for over 9 years. He attended college at UC Berkeley where he was a competing member of the Cal Wushu club. James has trained at Shichahai, the world renowned home of the Beijing Wushu Team. He continues to be an active member of the club leading workouts and serving as a judge at the annual UC Berkeley Chinese Martial Arts Tournament.

Brandon Sugiyama, co-president

Brandon began practicing wushu 10 years ago as a freshman at the University of Oregon. A founding member of the UO Wushu Club, he went on to serve as head coach and served as tournament director for the first Collegiate Wushu tournament hosted at the University of Oregon. Following college, he moved to the San Francisco Bay area. He has consistently ranked as America's top taiji competitor taking numerous regional and national gold medals in the 24 and 42 taijiquan and 42 taijijian. In 1999, he competed as a member of the US Wushu Team at the World Wushu Games in Hong Kong where he took 12th place in both the 42 taijiquan and 42 taijijian. Brandon has travelled to China on several occasions to study wushu and taiji and spent 7 months in Beijing training at the Beijing Tiyu Daxue (Sports University). He continues to practice and compete in both internal and external wushu styles. He is a delegate for and a Level I certified judge by the US Wushu Union.
